paid help with 2 problems needed

hi there.

I’ve got 2 probs that I can’t get a grip on:

– the premium sitemap plugin is breaking my signup page

– the position of my dashboard widgets aren’t being saved

anyone willing to lend a hand and have a look at my installation? I’d give out the login details and be willing to pay you for the trouble. I can’t find the plugin conflicting with the all in one seo pack plugin :slight_frown:

well, if I activate the AIo plugin, the wp-signup.php page only loads a blank white page. I checked its sourcecode and it looks perfectly normal, except it suddenly stops with this entry:

results from googling:

seems to me there is another active plugin using something that blocks AIO seo pack plugin, so it stops, right?

how can I find out which other plugin interferes? can I grep for a certain expression? which one would that be? shall I grep -R -i 'ob_start' web/ ?

The best thing is to just remove plugins one at a time.

ob_start is a function within php. It’s an object buffer of some sort.

Looks like a possible issue with wordpress although it doesn’t look like it went far. Some of the closed tickets include possible fixes:

I’d try Andrew’s suggestion first though. Maybe something in a plugin conflicting. Grep’ing would be good as well to see where it appears.

removing, one by one is not really an option right now :slight_frown: too time consuming and I would have to do it in the middle of the night, hoping no one is trying to sign up then :slight_smile: or maybe put the site in maintenance mode, hmm…

thx drmike, read through those tickets… will try and grep later on today, see what I can come up with…

is there any debug code I could hack into the all in one seo pack to find out more?

Did you remove all of the plugins to confirm it’s a plugin issue?

@Andrew: I wasn’t sure what would happen if I rename the plugins directory for 5 minutes, using plugincommander and so on. I mean will all blogs that had plugins enabled keep them enabled even if I remove them for a short while?

I’d hate to break everybody’s blogs :slight_frown:

what about mu-plugins? if I rename the folder for 10 minutes, and then rename it back will all be back to normal?

that’s the only thing that stopped me from doing so, I mean I can put all blogs in maintenance mode meanwhile.

Until now I only deactivated plugins one by one to check and that took a long time and didn’t help at all :slight_frown:

One thing that comes to mind (and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m winging this and this is just off the top of my head) is a memory issue. Could possibly PHP be running out of memory? I know when wp is generating pages and stops in the middle of doing so, memory is one of the first things to look at.

Another thing to try is to see if any errors are being produced. Check the readme file for the bit about error logging.

Unfortunately narrowing down the cause on your install is the only way to deal with this one. The latest version of this plugin has been downloaded 72 times and no one else is reporting this issue.

@ovidiu – As long as you do not visit the plugin admin page on any blog the plugins should not be deactivated by temporarily removing them. You can test this by

-making a dummy plugin

-activating it

-remove it

-do a bunch of stuff elsewhere on the blog

-put the plugin back

-check the plugins page to see if it’s activated

unfortunately my laptop broke, just after coming out of warranty and a “borrowed” PC broke during the last BIOS update :slight_frown: ordering a new BIOS chip as we’re speaking :slight_frown:

k, managed to try now.

– renamed the plugins folder, no change, the wp-signup.php page still doesn’t work.

– moved all plugins out of the mu-plugins folder except for the maintenance plugin which I used to set the site into maintenance mode and the AIO plugin, signup page still broken.

– changed the main blog theme, still broken :slight_frown:

what further debugging can I do?

I’m honestly not sure what you can do at this point. Again though, no one else seems to be having this issue so it has to be something unique with your install. I’m just not sure what it could be.

Have you made any core hacks, etc?

none.

I will start looking for plugins that place files outside the plugins and mu-plugisn fodler next, maybe an odler plugin is causing all this trouble?
