Quantum sites for development – no static cache, please.

0

So, I’ve been using Quantum sites for development. Once I’m close to launching, I figure I’ll upgrade the site and configure caching, etc.

The problem is, since this is a development site, I want to turn OFF the static server. It’s really tedious having to jump to the Hub to clear the static cache every time I want to see if the changes I’m making are working correctly.

I understand WHY the static cache is being forced “on” for the small resource sites, but I’d really like to be able to disable it.

    Hi Jack Lavender ,

Hope this message finds you well.

Sorry. I just realized this should have been in a different spot – it’s really a feature request. Is there a way to move it? . .

No worries, we have moved it to Features & Feedback subforum now.

We do understand your thoughts here. We do actually have an existing feature request same as this and we will add this as another vote there so our team will know. With regards to ETA however, we don’t have any to share as of this moment.

Right now in the meantime and as already mentioned by Mark, you can always clear the Static Server Cache without the extra hassle of always going to the site’s Hub by using Hummingbird Pro as it integrates with the Static Server Cache for WPMU DEV Hosted sites. You can read more about that here.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you need any clarification.

    Best Regards,
    Jasper

A little update on this. I loaded Hummingbird and when I click the “Clear all cache” item in the top menu, it does NOT clear the static cache on the server. I repeat, clicking the “Clear all cache” item in the top menu does NOT clear the static cache.

If I open Hummingbird and click the “Clear cache” button, it DOES clear the static cache.

In the end, it’s faster for me to just leave a separate tab open to the Server/Tools page and clear the cache there.

      Hi Jack Lavender ,

I could replicate the issue with Hummingbird. I’ll make sure to bring this to our Hummingbird team’s attention so that this could be addressed asap in the latest update.

I can confirm your feedback regarding the feature request in Quantum is already passed to the relevant team to check the possibility of implementing it down the roadmap.

      Kind Regards,
      Nithin
