Registration redirect

I’m using WPMU 2.9.1, BuddyPress 1.1.3 and BBPress 1.0.2 and Social for the theme

I’ve installed all of these manually. The only problem I’m having is the redirect link for registration. Currently the registration link on the main page goes to yoursite.com/register and the landing page is for hosting service. It doesn’t matter if I have registration enabled ofr disabled the redirect remains.

I also don’t understand how to do the following:

“If registration is disabled, please set “NOBLOGREDIRECT” in wp-config.php to a url you will redirect visitors to if they visit a non existent blog.”

I’ve been into wp-config.php and found where “NOBLOGREDIRECT” is but not sure how to set it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. I won’t be back online for about 3 hours.

    Thank you Aaron,

I just made changes and works as it should.

I set the privacy on the theme to enable privacy for all members profile but members are still showing up. Is there another setting that overides the theme settings. I’m stil using social as I mentioned in original post

I have the registration redirect problem, but I don’t see any theme options to set this anywhere? I’m using the fishbook theme though, cause I can’t get my premium wpmudev.org themes to work yet.

I haved Worpress MU and Buddypress social theme installed (both the newest I believe).

My site is more a holding site for several community blog pages which I am directing members to by domain forwarding.

When a person lands on say leeds, blog and is new to the site they are asked to register. This is fine. However, once they go through the signup process (for the overall site) how do I get them to return back to the blog page that they landed on rather than the main site blog?

    Hope this makes sense.

At present when they go through signup on this theme, they press continue and it goes to 404 page despite the fact that they are now a newly registered user on the site when I look in the dashboard. How do I direct traffic to a sensible place when they have registered?

If you click the link http://www.community1stop.com/register

it takes you to a signup page that I believe came with the template. At the bottom there is a ‘complete signup’ button.

I fill in the form details, press this and get 404 message. The new member is created when I go to dashboard though.

When I hover over the complete signup button and look at the bottom of the browser, it too seems to point to http://www.community1stop.com/register

    Does that kinda make sense?

I have deactivated every plugin appart from buddypress in the template and still get the same problem. Is there a way of going in to code behind the button so to speak and sending the person signing up to a url with a thank you for signing up on it or better still just get them back to the home page?

PS I have tried different themes and the problem persists. If I were to replace the register files to see if that helps, which ones should I ftp?

    Hiya,

Is there a way of going in to code behind the button so to speak and sending the person signing up to a url with a thank you for signing up on it or better still just get them back to the home page?

That could probably be done with a custom plugin. However, it’s best to just get the root problem resolved.

If I were to replace the register files to see if that helps, which ones should I ftp?

I’d re-upload all WPMU and BP files.

    Thanks,

I got PSEK to totally wipe my server and start again. Worpress MU has been pre-installed for me and I have downloaded buddypress. I went and upgraded to 2.9.2 and I believe buddypress is the most up to date version.

The only things that I have done are allow users to register and create blogs. I added a couple of profile fields via buddypress on dashboard and then tested the register function again. It still goes to 404.

I took off the fields I had created but no luck.

To add to my frustration, it sends an email to the new user to activate the account but when you click the link in the message it says there was an error activating your account.

Any thoughts as to the problem. I can set up the site in its basic form but if users cant register it kin of defeats the object of what I am trying to create.

    Help!!!

I did not upgrade BP, I went to add via dashboard:plugins and it automatically downloaded 1.2.1

As for the theme, I only used the standard buddypress compatable one provided in the buddypress plugin. I deliberately did not start messing with the themes until I knew it worked (which it didnt).

I really wanted your social theme ultimately but am not prepared to mess about until registration is working.

I am at a bit of a loss really as apart from getting getting PSEK to remove WPMU 2.9.2 just trying it with the version they install and not automatically upgrading it, I dont know what to try. I am reluctant to contact PSEK for a second time to get them to do this.

Surely Buddypress 1.2.1 and WPMU 2.9.2 are compatable or I would have seen more on the forum reference problems?!

I went through your help files to understand better what WPMU was all about. In there is recommended PSEK for hosting so I purchased the executive package (As I was thinking to messing about with Multi D.B.)

I was expectingt o have to install it all myself but got a welcome email saying WPMU was all setup and ready to go!

I was pleased and went through final setup stages online rather than altering wp-config sample as you do for wordpress. I upgraded WPMU to 2.9.2 as prompted when I first entered dashboard and downloaded Buddypress plugin via dashboard.

    It still wont register new users/blogs properly;
