Site Backups with snapshot pro

Hey Gang,

I am using snapsot pro here and I am just not comfortable I’m backing up the whole site here as my archive files are 225k which is ridiculously small.

Do I need to check include all selected files and check all the boxes (I know this backs up inactive themes and plugins also) or do I just need to check the include common files (to get everything that is active and ignore the inactive (does this option leave anything else out)?

Sorry I am try to make us of my wpmu membership but used to wpclone which just backs up everything unless you exclude it. I don’t want to get caught with my pants down here.

The goal is if I need to restore It would be from a fatal crash and I would need to reinstall wordpress, install snapshot and then pull the backup in and have the site be there and fully functional with all the necessary files, media, databases etc.

Thanks

If you don’t choose “Include common files: Themes, Plugins, Media (wp-content/uploads),” then you’re just backing up your database.

If you want to be able to store your entire site, then you need to choose “Include common files: Themes, Plugins, Media (wp-content/uploads).”

This will allow you to restore an exact clone of your site.

    Hi Jason

I hope you had a wonderful day.

That’s a very important question. But as you said “have the site be there and fully functional with all the necessary files, media, databases etc.”, if you don’t include all the necessary files, how can you restore them if you see a fatal crash or something similar to the level of that error?

So If you are experimenting something critical, or trying to do something that may result in fatal crash or something similar, I’ll suggest you to take a full backup of your site with Snapshot Pro. Try to include all common files, and check all the boxes so that you can revert back to the exact state if anything goes wrong.

Please let us know if you have any further confusion. We will be glad to help.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!
