Site down after import via Shipper

Goodday!

I've been testing your new hosting and encountered an error (500) while importing a website from an external server via Shipper (beta 10). In effect the site (https://brussels-stinking.wpmudev.host/) is offline, and I'm not able to view the logs in my hosting panel.

Any help will be appreciated!

Cheers,

Leonard

    Hi Leonard

I hope you’re well today and than you for reaching out to us.

I realize that it would be expected to just fix the site but I think it might be actually worth to try the newer version of Shipper. There’s been beta-12 just released and it takes a bit different approach to the migration – the “copying” engine has been changed a bit to provide better compatibility (especially with slower/underpowered servers – both source and target) and less “resource impact” so it would be great if you could give it a try.

If that doesn’t work either, we’ll look into the site and try to fix it to make it work. Would that be fine?

You’ll find the new beta here:

Maker sure, please, to read then initial post there before giving it a go

    Keep me updated, please.

    Best regards,

    Adam

    Hi there Adam,

I did another migration with the latest version of Shipper this weekend and it worked like a charm.

It took 4 hours for 240 Mb (source) + 70 Mb (database), and that’s a long time for an average sized website. I would recommend to at least clean up site and database if possible before migrating!

    Cheers,

    Leonard

Hi Leonard and thanks for the feedback.

Latest beta of Shipper is slower than the older ones as the restore process has been rewritten to handle the issues that you were experiencing, it did slow down the time it takes for the migration to complete but it has made it much more stable, and hopefully our devs can now improve it further to speed things up where possible

    Best regards,
