Site having display problems

Hi

I'm having some weird display problems with politics.scot

1) Someone said it wouldn't display at all in Chrome.

2) When I share articles, Facebook doesn't pick up the article featured images, it just shows text/url. Linkedin displays them fine.

I have Yoast SEO installed and ran the config wizard, usually that sorts the social sharing part ok.

Any ideas on something I'm missing causing these issues?

thanks, Neil.

There’s definitely something odd going on here.

I ran the Facebook debugger on one of the articles, and it showed these warnings:

Inferred Property – The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

    Missing Properties – The following required properties are missing: og:url, og:type, og:title, og:image, og:description, fb:app_id

Bad Response Code – URL returned a bad HTTP response code.

It says it is receiving a 404 error code…

    Hello Neil,

There is something wrong with your site because it does display this:

[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

Instead of your site. I can see that in the Firefox and Chrome browser as well. Hence those would be the reason for issues with Facebook.

Is your site hosted in 1&1? Have you used http://sedoparking.com/ service ever on this domain?

Can you contact your hosting provider and ask why the site is displaying what seems to be a default page for domains without any content?

    kind regards,

    Kasia

    Hi Neil McEvoy,

Can you please tell us when did you point this domain to the current hosting? Kasia got a parked page for your domain but a few of our colleagues got your site loading correctly. So I ran a DNS propagation check and found that your DNS is not propagated worldwide yet. Here are the results:

[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

[attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

I think you should wait for a few more hours and then clear your browser cache and cookies and try again. If the issue is not resolved in a few hours, please let us know. We will investigate further.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you and resolving this issue as soon as possible.

    Regards,

    Rupok

    Hi

I raised the DNS propagation issue with 1and1, here’s their response:

“I do apologize for the inconvenience however we have checked your domain name DNS using an internal website to check the DNS propagation and it seems that it is now propagating correctly to an IP address setup in your control panel.

It does indeed seem to be resolved, it now works through IE for me where it didn’t before, and the Facebook links are now working properly.

    Hi Neil McEvoy,

Thanks a lot for the information. I’m so sorry if I’m missing anything but is the issue resolved now? You confirmed that it’s working in IE and facebook links are now working properly. Can you please try clearing the cache and cookies of other browsers and check if your site works properly on those browsers too?

Please let us know. We will be very glad to assist further if required.

    Regards,

    Rupok
