Smush increasing my site loading time.

I’ve tested my site on pingdom and gtmetrix and it seems Smush is increasing site loading time by 4 times compare to when Smush Pro is disabled.

    Hello SCL Internet,

    Hope you’re doing well.

I’m escalating your issue to our developer for further investigation as I can replicate the issue on my test site as well. Our developers will check further and follow-up with you.

Please keep in mind that they work on more complex issues. So, they might little delay responding here. Your patience is very much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Ashik

      Hi,

So I’ve just been testing again, with the only difference being having Smush Pro on or off. Without Smush I”m now getting .5s – 1.5s through Pingdom, GTMetrix and Google pagespeed analytics. When I turn Smush on all 3 of these testing tools give an error and won’t even test the site speed.

Loading the front-end in my browser it seems to take about a minute to load. Are you saying this is a typical occurrence when installing Smush Pro on a website? I find it hard to believe this is typical behaviour or you would be constantly inundated with customers with this issue. If this was the case, why would the first level of support need to escalate the issue?

Is the official answer that there isn’t anything wrong here and your plugin is working as it should?

Also, how long might it take for the images to get onto the CDN and start serving?

For reference the error message from Google pagespeed is: Lighthouse returned error: NO_FCP. Something went wrong with recording the trace over your page load. Please run Lighthouse again. (NO_FCP) (NO_FCP)

GTMetrix: An error occurred fetching the page: read timeout

      Cheers,

      SCL

        SCL Internet,

I am looking at your configuration, and it seems that the CDN auto resize feature is not properly working and is causing the delay. This often happens when you have allow_url_fopen set to 0 in you php.ini file. Could you please check if that’s the case? I have disabled the function for now and your site is working fine with Smush enabled.

        Best regards,

        Anton
