[Smush] Physical image file size not changing

We compared the physical file size of an image file before and after Smush, but both the sizes are the same. We have the option “Smush my original full size images” turned on. Please advice.

    I hope you’re well today!

    I checked your site and I can see the issue there. I did some additional tests on my own test site too and while I couldn’t replicate that there, it showed that the “savings” values that are showing up on your site are proper – the difference is only in an image downloaded from media library.

    It seems that either something’s “interfering” with file processing on your site or an actual image is optimized but the one we download from media library is somehow cached. Since I don’t have access to your server, I’m not able to check some things so could you please do this:

    1) download such an optimized image directly via FTP and compare its file size with the same one downloaded directly from media library on site – are they both the same or the one from FTP is actually smaller?

    2) run bulk smushing on images after that and check the same again

    3) check if there’s any server-side cache active and if so, clear it up completely

    4) try above with CloudFlare temporarily paused for site (note: in CloudFlare dashboard there’s “Pause” option at the bottom of the right column in “Overview” section for the domain – use this one instead of putting CF in “dev mode”:wink:

    Let me know about results, please.
