    Hello Liran

    I trust you’re doing well!

    The 524 is a CloudFlare error, and it is the same as the server’s 504 Gateway Error. It means that the server can’t handle the certain process and it is timing out. In other words, there are not enough server resources. The Cloudflare wait time is 100 seconds, please try deactivating temporary the Cloudflare and see is the Smush menu will open

    First please update all plugins on your site and see if the issue is still there. Before updating plugins please make sure to backup your site. Please see if there are plugins that are not required to be active on your site, if there are such, please remove them. Or use plugins that are much lighter.

    Current memory o your site is set to 256MP, please increase it to 512MB, by adding the following line in the wp-config.php file:

    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M');

    If the issue still persists, please create a staging site where you can run a test for a conflict with another plugin. To run this test, please deactivate all the plugins, except the Smush plugin and try to open a menu. If all is well, start activating one plugin at a time till you will be able to replicate the issue. This way you will find which plugin is causing this issue ( or a plugin that requires a lot of resources to run).

    If the issue still be there, please contact your hosting provider and ask if there is a way to increase CPU and RAM capacity.

    Let us know how it went!

    Kind regards,

    Nastia
