I need to be able to backup and restore a subsite in a multisite without impacting any other subsite. I would also like to be able to do this in the staging environment.
Updraft Plus offers this feature, so it must be possible. They say in their features description:
WordPress Network and Multisite
Compatible with WordPress Network / Multisite installs.
Backup/restore control panel is placed in the network dashboard.
Restore individual sites within the network (without having to restore all sites).
Import (where possible) single site installs into the network.
