Snapshot Pro not saving files in my backup folder.

I created a directory vf_backups for Snapshot Pro. But, no backups are being saved there. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong. I have enabled Support Access. I am having this same problem with my other WordPress sites too. TIA

Does the zip file actually link somewhere? Click it and see if it downloads It may say fail because it couldn’t write to the vf_backups directory, but it may have been saved to an alternate location.

How are you viewing the contents of the directory? Through SSH, FTP, or something else?

You may need to adjust the permissions of the vf_backups folder. Try 777 and see if it still doesn’t work. If it does, lower the permissions down to 644 and see if it still works. 644 is probably a good permission for you, but you can always try lowering it, if it still works.

    Hi

Last time i tried it download the backup. I want to check it again but it seems the access is expired. Could you revoke and then grant me access again ?

And you can try @Zach solution here, maybe it’s about directory permission on your server

    Hi There

So this is how snapshot worked, it will create a local archive then send to destination (backup target). I have check no problem with your ftp connection. And I look for the other setting, that you never run the backup, but only doing "save only" mode. That's why the archive is only save in local server not to ftp destination. You can go to All Shapshots -> choose your backup and on "when to archive" change save only to "run immediate" or one of "scheduled options". And if it's still not working you can try change folder permissions and change ftp options to passive (destinations -> FTP /sFTP -> edit -> passive mode = yes )

Let me know if you have any questions

I just tried saving immediately and got the following message when it got to Plugins:

“An unknown response returned from Snapshot backup attempt. Aborting. Double check Snapshot settings.”

Then, I tried it without the plugins and it finished with saying everything was 100%, but it still doesn’t show up in my ftp folder.

    Hi

It seems the backup is success saved to local but not uploaded to FTP. I have switched your FTP to passive mode and assuming the FTP folder already in correct permission (or try 777 for testing purpose). Could you try to run backup again and check on your FTP location ?

Let me know the result

I started by deleting all the backups and ran a new one. The first one I ran I included everything (which I would prefer doing).

It got all the way to the end, when it stopped and I got the following error message at 75%:

“An unknown response returned from Snapshot backup attempt. Aborting. Double check Snapshot settings.”

I deleted the backup and tried again, but this time I left out the plugins.

It said that it completed the backup successfully but there was no backup in my ftp folder. It does say that Destination is pending, so I don’t know if this just takes additional time.

Can you fix it so that it will back up everything correctly?

    Hi

I need your ftp access then, to check if you have set correct permission on destination folder.

    Hi

I have check your ftp folder, and see the backup is there  And have the same size as the backup , so you can tell that the backup process is completed  And btw, I change the FTP timeout to 300 in case you backup larger file and the server is busy, so it will wait longer

Let me know if you need anything else

    Hi

Do you have other ftp server to test ? Because the backup process depending on your server resources, network connection and other factors. Try with other ftp access or maybe google drive to backup your site.

Let me know the result
