Some how and admin for one site now has super admin privileges

Tried to change but not option to change. I used one of personal emails so not sure why I cannot change. Please help. How do I prevent this from happening again. I should be able to same someone’s privileges. I remember making a conscience decision not to check the super admin box for this user. Thanks
