Staging to live site push

Just wondering how can I know what is pushed to production from staging, and what is not.

My production site and staging site has different admin messages via Branding plugin, to remind me which version I’m working on.

I pushed from staging to production today, but the admin message did not change. That tells me certain things are not pushed through, so how can I know?

Thanks!

    Hello aTz

I have just checked the issue on my test site, and when I pushed from staging to live the admin message copied too.

Would you please let me know you selected "Files and Database" when you pushed from staging to live?

If you are sure about that, then please leave the admin username and password in the support notes section of main site, from where you enabled support access and we will take a look.

    Have a nice day!

    Cheers,

    Ash

    Hello aTz

I have just checked and it seems the admin message is same on staging and production. I have modified the message a bit on the staging site. Would you please deploy to live site now and check how it goes?

Please let us know once you push to live.

    Cheers

Hi Ash, I did a push now and this time the message changed correctly as per staging site. How will I know if anything else doesn’t push through? It could be something that I might not notice until a few months later and by then it would be too late to restore the original.

    Hello aTz

To be honest, this is first time we got an issue regarding data missing on pushing from staging to live site. After seeing your post, I have checked this on several single and multisites from different server locations and every time it worked fine. In staging to live migration, it replaces the entire database and so there is no chance of not replacing. Even if there is any issue just in case, then there will be missing data but not the old data as the old database is deleted before replacing the staging database.

So, in your case, I think there is a misunderstanding somehow. But if you see similar issue again, please let us know immediately.

    Have a nice day!

    Cheers,

    Ash
