Static Sitemap gives 404 error.

I’ve disabled SmartCrawl sitemap and uploaded a static sitemap to my site’s root folder. But the sitemap URL keeps returning a 404 error.

    Hi Tyler Cooper

I hope you’re well today and thank you for contacting us!

I tried to check your site but while the FTP credentials give me access to staging site files, the site credentials seem to be only for the first – browser – auth and the support access doesn’t work there.

It looks like it’s either been only “carried over” from the live site (when site pushed to staging) or it has just expired. Could you please go to the “WPMU DEV -> Support -> Support Access” page in your staging site dashboard and grant support access from there again?

If it says it’s already granted, please revoke it and grant again as it usually helps. Let me know once that’s done and, hopefully, I’ll then be able to access site and check the issue.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi Tyler,

I had a look at your setup and sitemap file and everything seems to be in order and file permissions are correct.
What could be happening here is that there are some server rules applied by WP Engine that are preventing access to a static XML file, could you check with their support if this could be the case?

    Best regards,
    Predrag
