I would love to see a feature that allows users to subscribe to a specific category and its children. Thanks!

    I’m using WPMU plugins to supplement an education site. The categories represent each student’s teacher on the site as well as their classes. It would be nice to have a widget that would allow you to add a number of categories to your “subscription” list and then you would get an email once a day that had all the latest posts from your subscribed categories. This way, the students could have updates only from their classes in their email rather than from all 100 teachers posting to the one site.

    make this into a widget that always shows which categories you’re subscribed to in the sidebar. the categories also function as links to category archive listing the posts in those categories. this double functions therefore as a custom menu. so if there are 300 categories on the site but you’re in 5 classes, you always see those five categories in your subscription widget and can use it as a custom menu that’s always ‘on’ when logged in.
