[The Hub] Better subscription invoices…

1

This is a 2 part issue. First is this, if someone does not pay for the first subscription invoice, let’s say on the first of the month, once the period comes around again and they did not pay they do not get a second invoice for the new period. Thus the I, the user is stuck not getting paid the second time around.

The second issue is the subscription invoice scheduled for the 1st wasn’t paid until let’s say the 17th then the subscription starts from that day not the 1st which can seriously throw off bookkeeping.

    Hi Daniel Canup ,

In general, the subscription won’t start until the client makes a payment and the Hub will only be taking the the date of payment as the start date of the subscription.

I’ll make sure to bring this further to our Hub team’s attention so that they are aware of your feature request and check if there are any further improvements that could be considered regarding the current workflow or whether it’s more specific due to the limitation in Stripe API.

We’ll keep you updated once we get further feedback asap.

    Kind Regards,
    NIthin

    Hi Daniel Canup ,

if someone does not pay for the first subscription invoice, let’s say on the first of the month, once the period comes around again and they did not pay they do not get a second invoice for the new period. Thus the I, the user is stuck not getting paid the second time around.

We got further feedback and I’m afraid the above is an expected behaviour on how the subscription model works. No additional invoices will be generated if the subscription has not started. This is because the activation of the subscription is dependent upon the payment of the first invoice

The second issue is the subscription invoice scheduled for the 1st wasn’t paid until let’s say the 17th then the subscription starts from that day not the 1st which can seriously throw off bookkeeping.

After the initial invoice is settled and the subscription officially begins, subsequent invoices will be issued in accordance with the date of the first payment and your chosen billing frequency.

A workaround would be to manually adjust the renewal date in your Stripe account once the first invoice is paid. Doing so allows the next invoice to align with your preferred scheduling, thereby customizing the billing cycle to suit your needs.

Please check and see whether the above helps.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

    I keep running into this same issue, there has to be an alternative. Clients get their bill and then lag on paying so then they basically get a month free if they don’t pay until a month later. ;}

Stripe does have a backdating option but not sure how to implement on our end?

I do understand you and will make sure to pass your feedback to our team’s attention regarding this.

Once the subscription is created, you should be able to update using the “Schedule Update” feature in the subscriptions.
