Hi WPMU DEV Team,
I am currently managing a portfolio of about 300 websites through the Hub and would like to submit a feature request regarding the Automate service.
The Problem:
With a major release like WordPress 7.0 approaching, I need to switch the WP Core update settings from “Major & Minor” to “Minor updates only” across all my sites to prevent unexpected breaking changes or layout issues.
Currently, there seems to be no way to bulk-apply Automate settings. While the Hub’s “Configs” feature is absolutely fantastic for deploying global settings for plugins like Smush, Defender, or Hummingbird, it unfortunately does not support Hub-native services like Automate. Manually clicking through 300 individual site dashboards to adjust the auto-update rules is incredibly time-consuming and prone to human error.
Proposed Solution:
Please consider adding bulk management capabilities for Automate. This could be achieved via:
Integration into “Configs”: Allow us to create a global Automate configuration profile (including WP Core rules, Plugin/Theme update rules, and Safe Update toggles) and push it to a bulk selection of sites, just like we do with plugins.
Bulk Actions in the Automate Dashboard: Add a bulk-edit UI directly within the Hub’s Automate tab, allowing us to select multiple sites and change a specific rule (e.g., “Change WP Core updates to Minor only”) with a few clicks.
Why this matters:
For agency owners and developers managing large portfolios, major WordPress updates require quick, global adjustments to update strategies. Giving us bulk control over Automate would massively reduce administrative overhead, ease the anxiety around major WP releases, and make the Hub an even more powerful enterprise-level management tool.
Thank you for considering this request!
