[The Hub Client] Disable the functionality that disables Automate when a plugin fails to update re

There are some plugins that do not autoupdate with Automate, seems like Astra Pro and Elementor Pro, as well as most Jet plugins. (Pretty much the main pro plugins I have on the site)

Sometimes I cannot get to them right away, but I still need a notification that they failed.

Usually when I do get to them it is already saying that it is going to be disabled, so not only do I have to go in and manually update it, I also have to go back and make sure I turn on updates for all plugins. I would like to eliminate this last step.

So how do I turn OFF the functionality that automatically disables plugin updates for a plugin if it fails a couple of times?

    Hi Michael Pratt

Sorry to hear you are having this problem.

Our developers are already working to improve the Automate process, we released some fixes on the latest WPMU DEV dashboard plugin update.

On the upcoming version, it will include more fixes for your reported plugins if all development and test process work as expected.

I’m adding this ticket as one more request to our developers and test team.

Let us know if you have any further question about this.

    Hi Michael Pratt

Just an update on the reply here.

So how do I turn OFF the functionality that automatically disables plugin updates for a plugin if it fails a couple of times?

I’m afraid the only option that we have is to disable the plugin update on the Automate settings:

I hope on the upcoming WPMU DEV dashboard we can improve the compatibility for those plugins.

I do not think you understood the question.

I want to be able to turn off the feature that disables the automatic update process. In other words, I want it to keep trying and failing and notifying me. Here is the email I get when WPMUDEV disables automatic updates for a plugin that has repeatedly failed:

Strewth maaaaaate, we ran Automate on xxxxxxx.com for ya! Here’s what we got up to:
      • Sep 18, 2020 at 4:21pm: Error updating Astra Pro from 2.6.3 to 2.6.4
      • Sep 18, 2020 at 4:21pm: Disabled updates for Astra Pro due to multiple consecutive errors

That second part, where it disables the update for multiple consecutive errors, that is the part I want to TURN OFF. I want to keep getting notifications that there was an error updating it.

    Hi Michael Pratt

    Thank you for the information.

This option can’t be disabled when the plugin fails to update, it requires a manual checkup and the system shouldn’t keep attempting the update as it is not safe for the website.

We are already working to improve the compatibility of those reported plugins and I hope soon those failures will be fixed.

I’m also sending this thread as a feature request to our Automate team about implement an option to avoid the service disabling the auto-updates.

Apologies James, great product here, but I do not think you understand what I am asking. Patrick answered it pretty sufficiently (although I know there is no security issue) it is just likely a bandwidth thing or just not possible at the moment. Which is fine, as long as a request is put in to support to add that feature, because it reduces steps for those of us who have a lot of websites. I only have about 1/3 of mine on here, and I’ve found that doing anything in batches is not possible, and therefor highly troublesome.
