[The Hub Client] Integrate Hub Client with WordPress User System

0

It would be nice if the Hub Client used the WordPress signin on the site so they could have one sign-in for all client areas on my site.

Hi Brian Penner and thanks for the feedback

However, in this case I’m afraid that won’t be possible as the user in essence needs to be able to authenticate against WPMU DEV in order to get in (allbeit in a white label fashion) so in order for both a user role on the site you had The Hub Client installed on would have to somehow be linked/integrated with the WPMU DEV credentials from Users & Roles, which as you can imagine… is pretty tricky.

We might consider, in future, creating some sort of plugin that means that your client’s User account from WPMU DEV is able to sync to a specific user that you assign them… but given that most users will use The Hub Client as a kind of cPanel experience and not actually give the users any rights on the actual site it’s installed on… I expect this would be fairly low down the list of priorities.

To help us understand this context further could you let us know exactly why your users have access to the WP site that The Hub Client is installed on? e.g. is it because they are your colleagues? Or another reason?

    Hi James,
Thanks for the response. I can understand this being a low priority upgrade. The reason this would interest me is that I’m considering building a user portal for my clients to be able to view their project info and billing info on the site and would like to avoid the second set of credentials on the same site.

Take a look at the new integrated live chat feature in The Hub Client (I’m just gonna call it THC here from now on lol), right now our intention is to allow you to integrate core functionality in THC, rather than the other way round.

Having said that, we will look into this more.
