[The Hub Client] Payment Gateway integration [PayStack]

2

I would love to integrate The Hub’s client billing centrally as part of my business ops, however currently it only uses Stripe which does not operate in my country. That essentially means that it is an absolute no-go.

I would like to suggest PayStack as a payment gateway integration. It is officially joining the stripe family and supports transactions in my home country (South Africa) which makes it a great candidate.

As a side note, is there somewhere I could follow for announcements regarding payment gateway and client billing improvement announcements? I would love to follow along in case you do integrate a payment gateway I can use for my currency.

    Hi Graeme Ford

    I hope you’re well today!

For now, there’s only Stripe supported indeed but that’s mainly related to the complexity of the whole system “behind” The Hub Client.

The Hub Client plugin doesn’t really do much “on its own” and is more like an interface for the private API of the Hub. Pretty much all the complex work is done by the Hub then and the payment gateway(s) used need to provide specific features and be very deeply integrated into the Hub itself.

However, I have passed your suggestion to our Hub developers to take under consideration. I’d rather not make promises at this point but I’m sure they’ll look into it when making plans for future improvements and development.

    Best regards,
    Adam

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that we can’t deactivate Stripe.

The billing is unfortunately not effective for anyone that doesn’t want to use Stripe.

Stripe is fine for ongoing hosting, but if you want to send an invoice and get paid via bank transfer or direct debit it’s not possible because the client receives a failed payment notification even though they’ve paid.

I was really excited when this feature was released and hopefully, a feature is built in at some stage where we can deactivate Stripe. Until then it’s back to XERO.

    Hello,

Just noticed some of the awesome work your teams have been up to as of late. I see that the Upcoming Hub 2.0 feature mentioned on the Product Roadmap mentions decoupling client-related features like support tickets, linking clients to sites, etc from the Stripe billing system.

Am I correct in thinking that this forms the beginning of the backend work to The Hub to support modular payment gateway integrations and potential payment gateway choice? This would absolutely be a game changer for clients in countries not supported by Stripe, and is a very exciting announcement!

I also want to just confirm that and get this public discussion updated as this may also help other clients, both from my country (South Africa) and other countries that may also be affected. A good point of reference is always helpful XD.

Love the work you are doing! Best choice in WordPress partner I have managed to find. Always exciting to see your latest developments.

    Hi G Kodes,

Currently, to use the “Clients” feature (for managing your customers) you must first set up Billing using Stripe. That’s a barrier if you just want to track and support clients but aren’t ready to charge them yet.

This update will remove that requirement, so you can:

    — Manage client support tickets
    — Connect clients to specific websites, domains, and webmail
    — Do all of this without needing to enable billing or payments

    Best Regards,
