[The Hub Client] White Label feature request about WPMUDEV Plugin Name

0

Hello
I am interested in reseller program of wpmudev hosting.
I tried to use Hub client plugin.
If I give the users access to the plugins panel, the WPMUDEV plugins may appear unwhitelabeled. This happens even if I are reselling the hosting alone and I created it from a template that does not include the WPMUDEV plugin at the time of resale. This is because WPMUDEV Dashboard is a required plugin.

In addition, if I duplicate the site using a template with the plugin’s white label applied using the WPMUDEV Dashboard plugin and Branda Pro, other plugins will also be displayed.

The current solution is simply not to give permissions to the plugin panel.
If you want to include not only hosting but also re-sell of WPMUDEV plugins for hosted sites, I think it would be better to be able to white label for plugin name. (Since API keys are not shared, it is possible by convention, right?)
Currently, only hosting can be sold.

Therefore, it is necessary to properly white label the plugin for the site created by WPMUDEV hosting on both the WordPress administration screen and the Hub client.

Perhaps this is not possible with the Branda Pro Admin Menu method.

Let’s say you use this feature to create a site from a white-labeled template and re-sell hosting.
How can I update settings related to the White Label later?
I think that there is no choice but to manually update all sites on the management screen.

Also, if you apply white labeling in this way, you will not be able to provide users with access to Branda Pro. This is because the user is free to change the settings in the Admin Menu.

The re-sell business of WPMUDEV represents enormous potential and challenges, and these challenges are common.
So I’m not complaining, but as you can see, the WPMUDEV plugin has not been white-labeled (WPMUDEV Dashboard is always displayed), so when it comes to renaming the WPMUDEV plug-in, it’s not Branda Pro.

I think you should prepare a setting screen in the hosting panel.
I think it is possible using the user role.

Also, regarding the white label setting of WPMUDEV Dashboard, it is currently necessary to manually update it on the management screen of each WordPress.

Considering reselling hosting, this setting should also be set in the hosting panel.
I think this is also possible by exchanging user role setting data with the WP MUDEV Dashboard.

Thank you.

Hey KAZUKI KIKUCHI great feedback, thank you!

I agree, white labelling our plugins and also hiding the dashboard plugin from your clients via The Hub Client settings would be super cool, I’m going to put it to the team to see what they think.

We’ve always anticipated needing to deal with the dashboard plugin (the same as in WP we need to make it so that when you create a site only you, and not your clients, can see it) but I hadn’t thought about the actual plugins in Plugins & Themes!

    Thanks again

      Dear James Farmer.

      Thank you for your reply.

Another thing I was curious about, why not install the WPMUDEV plugin from the hub client?

As far as the terms of use are concerned, I think it’s okay to make the WPMUDEV plugin available to the customer’s site I resold.
However, it seems that customers are currently unable to install the WP MUDEV plugin from the hub client.

However, if I did this, the Smush Pro CDN would be tied to my account, which would cause the problem that all customers would be able to use my CDN contract.
So, assuming that my customers will use Smush Pro, it seems better to be able to disable the CDN page from the hub client.

We look forward to running hosting as a SASS service. I plan to deploy it in Japan. There is no VPS full management service dedicated to WP, so I think it is a good opportunity.

Hi KAZUKI KIKUCHI great news re: Japan, we’d love to be your partner there  We’ll get a Japanese translation done as soon as possible!

When a client, or you, connects a site to The Hub Client it automatically installs the Dashboard plugin on the site being connected, it’s the way we manage everything between The Hub and the individual site – it’s the same with the normal Hub.

As regards CDN we’re going to fix that so that you can allocate clients CDN amounts and basically resell per person in the same way as you will with hosting:

        1. Client purchases a new hosting plan (a brand new one or an upgrade)
        2. They pay you using the tools we will provide (are building now)
        3. Successful payment means that new site is created or hosting is upgraded and we will charge you our fee

So every time a client purchases an initial product (like hosting) or an upgrade (like CDN or super smush or extra security tools) you can charge them what you like and we’ll charge for what we charge for (security is included in your membership for example, but extra CDN will have a cost etc)

        Does that help?

You sound like our ideal customer!

I see, not only hosting but also CDNs and plugins themselves can be resold. It’s more than I can imagine. It’s amazing.
Then, WPMUDEV Dashboard is also provided for customers, and customers can install plugins based on their own contracts.
          Is this understanding correct?

          2. They pay you using the tools we will provide (are building now)

By the way, I think you used to specify that you would use WooCommerce with another support ticket, are you still planning to do so?

          Does that help?

          Of course!

You sound like our ideal customer!

          Thank you so much.
The WordPress media (5M view / month) maintenance and operation project that I have been involved in for about 4 years is likely to end at the end of the year, and I am trying to make use of my experience to create and sell themes that correspond to AMP and PWA. .. Therefore, I would like to sell hosting together to increase profits, so I have high expectations for the WPMUDEV program.
I have to find a new job before I can start this … haha

I think this hosting project is very difficult, but I’m looking forward to it.

            Yep!

We’ve actually come round to building our own solution using Stripe connect, a bunch of reasons but first and foremost it means you won’t need to use any extra cumbersome software, pay them $200/y for a subscription add on and also it allows us to provide you with all the infrastructure nice and easily.

Plus it gives us many more opportunities for taking on WHMCS/cPanel in future and developing much more powerful (and also easy to use) provisioning and customer management/relationship tools.

AMP themes sound great but be careful that you don’t try to sell too much to web developers / freelancers as they are likely to just use their own services.. we very much thought of this as being for someone to sell, for example, wedding websites or websites for physiotherapists or just running a straight up localized WP business like these guys in AU https://wphosting.com.au/ (rank second after godaddy!)

Although knowing Japan (I was a Tokyo-based Nova teacher for 18 months back in the 90s!), the only thing I can generally conclude is that it’s almost impossible to know what does and doesn’t work in Japanese consumer culture if you’re not actually Japanese lol – so my ideas could be completely wrong here.

            Nothing worth doing is easy!

    Thank you for detailed explanation.

Yep, In fact, I think it’s very important what I develop and what I leave to others. In case of AMP, I’ve only limited it to ensuring that it works properly on AMP plugins developed by Automatic and Google.

Yep, it’s my job . No worry, I am native Japanese. English is second language.

Oh, and we should have a Tokyo (and Australian) DC before the end of the year (caveat: I hope) too!

This is quite good news, because no Tokyo DC center is biggest drawback.

Thank you for good conversation, I will prepare for starting day.

This post has been insightful. I too am looking forward to WHMCS/cPanel integration (yes please!) and the future plans for complete white-labelling is encouraging. Thank you! By when can we expect this? I am keen push this!

Not even sure how I landed on this thread… I think it was a vague google search result that had nothing to do with my question, yet was hugely informative at the same time! haha

I have just moved over from a cpanel/WHMCS setting because the host could no longer meet the needs of some of my bigger clients. I am very excited to see what the future holds, WPMU Dev! ????
