[The Hub] Manually authorize payments

1

The ability to manually authorize a payment within the clients & billing section.

We have run into a few scenarios where we are working with older clients that are not very savy with technology. They have provided their payment information and have authorized to begin payments. The issue is that there is no way for us to authorize or start a plan manually on the back end. I’m not suggesting to make this default.

But, if the account is Active and there is payment information on file we should have the option and ability to enable a charge. With some sort of email that is sent to the client saying that they authorized a manual setup as a means of a receipt.

    Hi Daniel

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for the suggestion, I can see we had a similar request in the past, and I added this as an extra vote for it.

We always need to balance security and user experience, on one hand, we can’t have a more flexible control with weak security, but in cases where the payment info is already saved in the stripe database maybe is a good idea to have an option “instantly start”.

      Hey Patrick,

Absolutely 1000% agree, in no way do I desire for weak security practices. Though there are some in the digital space that I’m sure have experienced an older client or client in general that “can’t be bothered” to go through a few clicks. They opt instead to, over the phone, request a payment in some manner. Or in the event that a card expires and the client can’t be bothered updating it.

As mentioned in our case we have a few elderly people and busy owners that are used to “paying over the phone”. Our main response is to guide them through the intended secure process but most have opted to provide the necessary information so they can be setup on their behalf by our billing dept.

Having an “instant start” button would be great, along with an email that is sent to notify the client that “you have authorized {company white lable name} to enable the following subcription/onetime payment on your behalf”

This way there is a paper trail of sorts.

      Thank you for the consideration.
