[The Hub] Merge sites

0

This feature may already exist, but I’ve not found it yet. When we develop sites we usually build them on a staging URL, then when it’s finished we activate the primary URL. We end up with duplicates in the hub – a ton of staging URLs and then all our normal URLs. We can remove the staging URL, but that typically removes the entire site, so we have to add it again. It’s not an insurmountable problem, but it’s a fair amount of wasted time on our end. Any help here would be hugely appreciated :-)

    Hi Mike

Typically, when this occurs, The Hub waits a while for a site using the old domain to reconnect. After a certain period, usually less than a day, The Hub removes the site from the list as it hasn’t been receiving data from it, leaving only the element with the updated domain in the list.

I recommend waiting. If you wish to initiate the cleanup process, you can attempt to change the primary domain back to the previous one, wait for roughly 5 minutes, switch it back again, and check if The Hub no longer displays a duplicate.

If you continue to experience issues, don’t hesitate to contact us through Live Chat or by creating a Support Ticket. We’re here to help.

    Warm regards,
    Jair.

Thanks Jair, I failed to mention an important element – the staging domain is the one automatically assigned by the host. It’s still technically accessible at that domain, so WPMU Dev will always get a 200 if it tries to reach out.

    Hi Mike ,

Could we know who is your hosting provider? So that we could have a better idea regarding how the staging is created?

It’s still technically accessible at that domain, so WPMU Dev will always get a 200 if it tries to reach out.

I do see you mention about a ton of staging URLs getting listed. So just to be clear we understand what you are facing, there is more than one staging site URL gets listed for the same website in the Hub and all these staging site URLs are accessible and get a 200 request?

Also, are there any sites at the moment where you currently notice the mentioned issue in the Hub at the moment? If yes, possible to list out the staging URLs listed and the live site URL, so that we could have a better idea regarding this?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin
