Undersstanding Ad Sharing

I am still not quite in tune with the ad sharing plugin. Questions and comments do follow.

(1) Ratio – Seems a numeric input box allowing the admin to refine the split a bit would add flexibility. My opinion is that reading data from an input box is also a bit easier than configuring a drop down box. Not a biggie, but wish you would think of it. I have a personal affinity for giving 40% commission to affiliates and 10% to JV partners, so that number sticks in my mind.

(2) About how the sharing works. Is the blogger allowed to insert their own complete advert that shows alternately with the admins ad? Is that how it works? Sort of like an a/b split?

(3) How about if I wanted to allow the blogger to merely edit my code (i.e. insert an affiliate code into the advert link code)? Meaning, the same ad shows all the time, but I can then actually use affiliate software to track and pay these folks.

So, is my understanding (meaning it’s like an a/b split) correct? Would you think of the comments as an add on feature?

thanks,

Kirk

    Hey,

    (2) About how the sharing works. Is the blogger allowed to insert their own complete advert that shows alternately with the admins ad?

Yes. The users are allowed to post their own Ad codes. Users get a Settings > Advertising area to enter their own ad code (including a message that you can customize) and if they choose not to, you get 100% of the revenues.

    (3) How about if I wanted to allow the blogger to merely edit my code

Nope. The users won’t be able to edit the codes which Admin prescribed. They can post their own codes, but can’t edit yours.

    Thanks.

That’s a shame. Being able to limit bloggers to editing code would allow me to kick an affiliate program in immediately. Mostly, inserting an affiliate id as a variable in the ad code. They don’t insert it, I get the sale, they insert it, they get a commission.

    A/B splitting wouldn’t do that.

    Thanks

You can always have a custom plugin coded to meet your needs

I definitely realize that. But, that would require that I have more cash flow than I have at this moment. I am in my off season in a down economy. Oh, how sad it am. LOL

Which brings up a question. If I see one of your plugins that has potential, can I pass it on to a custom coder to adapt to my desires, wants, wishes and needs?

And, I was making comments that I thought might give even more ideas to the creative folkses in here what considers such things.

    Cheers,

    Kirk

Sure. You can do that with not only plugins on this site, but also plugins from any other site unless they specifically mention not to. Most of them are all GPL licensed.
