A new version of the avatars plugin has been released. This version fixes a bug that caused default avatars not to display.

i think something is wrong with the paths. the path should be

‘C:wampwwwwp-contentavatarsuser’

but in comments, no image is displayed. There broken image icon with an address of

‘http://localhost.localdomain/avatar/user-1-32.png’

in my test environment, this should be ‘http://localhost.localdomain/avatar/c4c/user-1-32.png’

it’s the same for the sidebar widget. when I upload an avatar, the widget disappears completely. no error, it’s just gone.

ideas?

and no jokes about my chosen test server, either. I’m sensitive.

That’s what it should be. Can you double check to see if you put the line required into your htaccess file?

Andrew, any news of the broken editing of (I believe it was) the blog avatars?

Wait…. I dont get it. I did that but I still have the wrong file path showing up? My image path is:

/avatar/blog-2-96.png?rand=5221cd1d9c683b541d2f11987c7efed6

But my uploaded avatar is located in http://blog.you129.com/avatars/blog/blog-2-96.png and my path in .htaccess file is correct:

Your htaccess can’t be right, or not in the right order.

If I hit either link above, it tries to register “avatar” or “avatars”.

So, that indicated that the htaccess file was not modified properly.

What’s up with the bump? Um, that’s pretty rude when it’s the top post, or even on the front page.

If you’re comparing to the htaccess.dist file, that’s a file used to write the actual htaccess file, which is .htaccess. BASE is a replaced string used for certain install situations.

In short, as I said, it should be /.

Other than that, if it doesn’t work, take out the rule for avatars and see if it works.

Looking at your htaccess file example, you’re not on the 2.6 stuff yet and avatars certainly work on 1.5.1.

Just realized that. Getting a 505 now when I write to the .htaccess file. Still fooling with it.

Anywho…

MU 2.6 is currently in a release candidate state. It has a few quirks, but they’ll be worked out in time. I wouldn’t rush out to get it just yet. Actually, for me personally, I tend to wait a week or two after a full release and let the “gotta have it’s” break it, wait for the fixes in trac, and grab it from there. :wink:

Also, WPMU 2.6 is actually the “next” version after WPMU 1.5.1. :slight_smile: The version numbers changed drastically, so you aren’t a huge gap behind.

Have to admit that I would rather have seen the numbers stay the way they were. That was the quickest way to tell what platform someone was on and if they were in the correct forums.

Is anyone still seeing problems with the cropping tool in Internet Explorer? (I am running IE7).. works great in Firefox, but the cropping tool in IE7 is in the wrong spot and cannot be moved over the picture..

Just curious to see if anyone has run into this and found a fix..

There isn’t a suitable fix I’m afraid. What we’ve done though is add in an alternative upload method for users having issues with the standard method. I’ll upload the new version tomorrow.

Since the buddypress plugin will be released in Dec 08 as v1.0 so how will it work with the avatar plugin being created by current users. Do they have to re-upload for Buddypress plugins to work?

The avatar system in buddypress is completely separate from the one here. The BP plugins will work, they just won’t show the avatars uploaded using this system.

So yeah, you’d have to use the BP avatars to have them show up with the BP stuff.

Although I imagine it won’t be too hard to just replace BP avatars with ours… there might even be a plugin that does that ‘automatically’ :slight_smile:

It all depends on the BP avatars functions. If they’re setup to be replaced like WP/WPMU then it’s doable. If not then it’s not feasible.

seems a file was renamed widget_avatar.php is now widget-avatar.php

removed old version all is now fine
