Want to use only wpmu plug-ins

I am totally new to using WordPress and am fairly scared about what I am doing. I had hired a freelancer, and after two weeks, he has now said he is over his head in this big site idea and has walked away. YIKES!

I want to use only wpmu plug-ins because I like the concept that you guys will be there to support me and my site in whatever mess I may create. Okay, that last part is my ego’s input cuz I know I am playing way out of my league.

So, here is my current situation. There are those plug-ins that come with WP automatically: JetPack, Hello Dolly, Akismet and probably others that I can’t think of right now. Do I need those? Are there plug-ins that will serve the needs that they cover that are supported by wpmu?

Thanks for helping the Newbie! I hope to understand this stuff someday and return the favor to some other poor newbie who is completely overwhelmed.

    Welcome to wpmudev.

    You certainly don’t need hello dolly.

    Akismet is good for preventing spam on your site, there are other alternatives though, it’s upto you which you choose, but spam is something you will learn to hate, so it’s always good to have something which can reduce it.

    Jetpack, it’s not necessary, but it does have some great features, it depends on what you want to do.

    I’m not sure what other plugins you’d need it all depends on what kind of site you are wanting to build.

    Yea Wendy, i love that you see yourself helping other in the future.

    It may happen sooner than you think.

    I also love the idea of using just WPMUDEV plug ins. I try to do that wherever possible… But there may be times when you need something else…

    Just ask for advise here on what to use, and take it slow.

    The staff here is great and there are also members who are happy to help.
