[WPMU DEV Dashboard] Delete option for Backups overhead

0

Please provide the delete option for Backups overhead. Currently I was using a plan with 25GB storage, out of which 10 GB was already reserved for system files and 10 GB was taken by backup overhead. Then, I started facing storage issue at any action I wanted to perform on the site.

    Hi Mihai Diaconita

I hope you are doing well today.

We do not have too many requests in that matter. I added your request to our list. Please note we can’t guarantee this will be changed/implemented but we keep tracking those requests.

When it comes to backup overhead itself. it includes the latest incremental backup and any files that have been deleted from the production site but are still associated with the most recent full backup. Unfortunately, you do not have direct access to delete this overhead as it may reset the backup chain and require the next backup to start from scratch.

We have an automatic system in place to handle incremental backups, ensuring that backup overhead is stored and cleaned every 15 days. While significant changes to the website can slightly increase the size, it generally doesn’t affect storage significantly.

Also, please review your site files, those large ones, and remove them if possible (for example old backups from 3rd party backup plugins). If those are deleted next backup overheads should be smaller.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris
