When sites are for staging or development, it is common to add HTTP authentication to the folder in the hosting platform.
The Hub can’t currently connect to a site with HTTP authentication, but other WordPress management plugins give you the option of adding HTTP credentials in order to connect.
It’d be nice to have this option in the Hub too, in order to manage sites with HTTP authentication.
