[WPMU DEV Dashboard] One plugin for all the management features

0

Since all the plugins are separated, users are forced to install a few plugins in order to receive maintenance service based on WPMUDEV.

However on competitors like ManageWP and BlogVault, maintenance is done on ONE plugin only.

I tried to take advantage of Client Hub, but ended up not using it because installing a few plugins with having new wp-admin menu for each plugin is too much.

    Hi Takuya ,

By default, once you sync the website to the Hub, you should be able to enable basic management options ie enable Uptime, Automate, Reports, Whitelabel, and analytics. Also, update or install plugins via the Hub.

Features like Security, for example, are not only just meant to scan the website, but it also offers advanced configuration and setup like hardening the website, brute force protection, mask login, captcha, Geo block etc All these would be a better fit to be used as a plugin.

The option of providing plugins is meant in terms to give users more control over what could be enabled or disabled to their needs and also reducing redundancy if all are implemented in one single plugin.

Could we know any specific or what all management features you are looking to have so that we could check further and see if there are any further improvements that could be looked at?

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

ManageWP/BlogVault don’t require multiple plugins for backups, all the settings can be configured on their own cloud panel. However WPMUDEV requires some advanced configurations to be done on each plugin page.

I’m thinking of offering private hub page for my clients, so they can update WP by themselves. And I think for this purpose, “one plugin to control the management features” is much more user friendly than installing multiple plugins.

    Hi Takuya ,

Can you please confirm if you are concerned about using the WPMU DEV Dashboard plugin?

Please note that we do provide different plugins as they serve different purposes. For example, to secure your website, we provide Defender Pro and to optimize on-page SEO, we provide SmartCrawl Pro. Likewise, we are providing Snapshot Pro for backups, and you can manage these plugins from the Hub.

As you can see, all these plugins can be managed (basic operations) from the Hub and Dashboard plugin is required to connect your website with the Hub.

If I am not wrong, BlogVault is a backup plugin, and they do not offer any other features that our plugins provide.

As far as I can understand, ManageWP provides hosting backup. For the sites hosted with us, it’s not required to install Snapshot Pro to take a hosting backup, and you can initiate that from the hosting panel itself.

Please let us know if you need any further clarification.

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John
